Ok, so this IS quite tragic. But its late on Christmas Day and I needed something to wind down and relax with before a good nights rest.
So I’ve started playing Farmville. And I wanted to help any other new-comers with some Yeild Calculations for their crops.
I’m sure once I get into It I will realise some intricacies with the system, and high profit farm activities. Until then – I’m concentrating on growing a flat farm full of seeded crops.
My farm consists of 143 squares of ploughed land, ready for crops. The final square is a tree, tent and sign (for no real reason)

Basic Farmville Farm
What I was doing was planting Strawberries, then coming back 4 hours later to harvest and start again. Then I discovered Poinsettias.
After loads of those crops, I think I’ve unlocked a few more crops. I’m at Experience level 10 now just by doing strawberries then Poinsettias. Poinsettias are a limited time crop so may not be available to people reading this well after the post date.
So – Which crops to plant to start making Money – call it a FarmVille cheat if you like, but I call it good planning for profit.
The first thing to look at is raw value. Based on the cost of the ploughed land, the seed and the time it takes to grow, set against the revenue from the harvest, here’s the list:
This shows the profit per day, per single square of crop.
| CROP
Raspberries |
PROFIT PER DAY
$132.00 |
| Rice | $72.00 |
| Pumpkin | $69.00 |
| Cranberries | $67.20 |
| Poinsettia | $66.00 |
| Strawberrys | $60.00 |
| Cotton | $39.00 |
| Squash | $33.00 |
| Soybeans | $33.00 |
| Daffodils | $30.00 |
| Artichokes | $29.75 |
| Eggplant | $24.00 |
| Wheat | $21.67 |
This profit however assumes you harvest at the time the crop is ready, which in the case of Rasperries is every 2 hours, thus 12 harvests per day!
Artitchokes on the other hand take 4 days to grow, so you’re harvesting only .25 per day, the profit on the ‘per day’ is $29.75.
So, lets look at the frequency of harvest:
| CROP
Artichokes |
PROFIT PER DAY
$29.75 |
# Harvests Per Day
0.25 |
| Cotton | $39.00 | 0.33 |
| Wheat | $21.67 | 0.33 |
| Squash | $33.00 | 0.50 |
| Daffodils | $30.00 | 0.50 |
| Eggplant | $24.00 | 0.50 |
| Poinsettia | $66.00 | 1.00 |
| Soybeans | $33.00 | 1.00 |
| Rice | $72.00 | 2.00 |
| Cranberries | $67.20 | 2.40 |
| Pumpkin | $69.00 | 3.00 |
| Strawberrys | $60.00 | 6.00 |
| Raspberries | $132.00 | 12.00 |
This table shows that if, for example, you are able to get to your computer once per day, the Poinsettia is twice as profitable as Soybeans.
If you can get in twice a day, at 12 hour intervals, you are better of doing Rice which will nett you $72 per square each day.
If you have nothing to do with your lift, and can get into your farm every 2 hours, the BEST crop of all is Rasperries – harvest every 2 hours and each square will nett you $132 per day!
So, take some time to adjust your crops depending on your schedule – when you will next be back at your computer, that’s vital!
Enjoy, and let me know any tips you have
