28 Nov 2007 - Finding my Imported Photos
Ok, so here's a problem I have.

I plugged my SD card in, and the photos on it were imported using iPhoto pretty much automatically.

Great, a nice simple feature.

However, now I want to do things with those photos.  Email them for example, as attachments to messages i have written.  Or upload them to this site - but clicking a browse button in a website.

What happens is you choose PICTURES from the left menu, and then iPhoto Library - what that does is try's to attach or upload ALL the photos in the Library!!!

What i want is the source location /Mac HD/Users/apple/Pictures/ etc etc so i can FIND the actual photos!!!

Help!

You really don't want to interact with the individual files. Use iPhoto, it keeps backup copies of the files when they are edited so you can revert back to the original if necessary.

Now in iPhoto select the photo's you want to email and then ( based on iPhoto 6 ) there is a button at the bottom of the screen labeled Email (it will probably bring up Mail.app and not Entourage) click on it, it will ask you the size of the photo you wish to send ( small, med, large, full res. ) and then launches the mail program for you to send.

To find the actual files they are in ~/Pictures/iPhoto/iPhoto Library/
in one of the subdirectories for the year/month/day that is encoded in the photo.

To get a copy out of iPhoto use "Share" to extract a copy of an edited photo. If you drag the photo from the iPhoto window to the desktop is usually copies out the original.
