| 05 Feb 2008 - Photoshop - Built for Mac |

| I've been an Adobe Photoshop user for many many years, in fact it is a tool i simply could not live without. From basic graphic tools to advanced editing and image manipulation, any good web developer should use it, let alone the top graphic artists who all swear by it. There is really no competitor any more. Many many years ago Corel's Paint Shop which came with the then expensive Corel Draw set was very useful, but products like that just fail to keep up. So taking on the Mac challenge I NEEDED my photoshop. And so it was, here, looking at a Mac, but the very same CS3 (Creative Suite 3) interface I knew from my PC. Here's the thing though, I really grew to dislike the OPEN nature of Mac 'windows'. Floating out there, above all your other work. On a PC, open a program it dominates your screen. Nor so on a mac. So it did take some getting used to, but i quickly learned to live with that, and found the program as easy to use on the Mac as on my PC (of course!) I was impressed most by the Mac's ability to keep it going in the background while any number of other applications were in use. That's a clear Mac advantage. For Me, Photoshop is your essential tool for photo editing, and for graphic work - there are now so many products in the Adobe Suite, that anything graphic really does have it covered. Check out http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/family/?promoid=BPDEK for a stack more info - and some very useful real world examples! Next I guess it will be interesting to see how the PS3 Extended edition helps me LEARN flash and use it better, and perhaps how Adobe Premier Pro REALLY compares with Apple's Final Cut Pro.... |
