I got home last night at midnight, and knew there and then I wouldn't be sleeping for many hours to come. In my hot hand was a Playstation 3, and Gran Tourismo 5 Prologue. Sitting in the loungroom for just another couple of weeks is the SHARP AQUOS 52 Inch Full HD Tv - this was a perfect trio - I hoped! So, the PS3 is unboxed, and it is an impressive unit, sleek curves, shiny black exterior and on/off and eject buttons that are not buttons but sensor spots. Plugged it into the power, and whipped out my first HDMI cable connection into the SHARP AQUOS. Switched the input to Input 4 (one of 2 HDMI) and powered up the PS3. Menus are impressive, it detects the HDMI and goes through a screen adjustment to bring on 1080 resolution. This is feeling good! No sound yet, but im in the menus! In goes the GT5p disc... i wait, it loads, and tells me the PS3 software is out of date - I freak out, thinking I need the internet connected (which I couldnt be bothered doing), but aha - the GT5p disk HAS on it the latest version on it, and immediately it begins to install. Once installed, the PS3 reboots and again GTP5 loads. NOW i need to wait for the game to INSTALL.... Gone are the days of console games playing off the disk - and i guess that would be to prevent load times during the game. The install SEEMED to take forever, i got the baby bottles washed, dishwasher packed and watched a half hour TV show while waiting... It's now 1.20am and I'm getting frustrated, but KEEN to play. Finally we're off, the game starts.. I go to purchase a BMW M3 from the "DEALER" but its 90,000+, i've only got 35,000. So a VW Golf GTI it is. Off to the events, and we're at a simple circuit and im behind the wheel. Default view is sitting on the bonnet - eye level is headlight level. Easy race, done! but MAN it is hard to steer with your thumb and accellerate with your thumbs! Check the settings and i work out the START button changes driver view AND, the X button is for accellerate and O is for brake, that will make me more comfortable. Next race i try the IN CAR VIEW - IMPRESSIVE to see, but hard to drive. The roof view is best, i find the car easier to control and manage. The 'from behind' view is a waste, you can't drive that way! I win a lot, play for hours, get to bed at 3.30am. WOW - IMPRESSIVE GRAPHICS - This is like you've never seen before, the shine, the shadows, the backgrounds and the tracks, just sheer sensational. Get yourself a PS3 and GT5p. Outstanding gaming. Then, consider getting a 52 INCH SHARP AQUOS FULL HD TV - that really adds to the experience! |
