| 03 May 2008 - Grand Theft Auto 4 - Controversy Aside - how good is it! |
 |
I've got this PS3 and the SHARP 52 inch TV right now, so I took the liberty of borrowing a copy of GTA4 last night from a mate - had to see what all the fuss is about.
Similar to the GT5p install, a PS3 software update was required, plus the game installation, an hour down the track we were into the game.
GRAPHICS ARE AMAZING.
My last recollection of Grand Theft Auto was version 1, a bit of fun, with a criminal theme.
Leaving aside the controversy, I just wanted to experience the latest in gaming first person.
Aside from the impressive graphics the gameplay is well executed. Running, walking, shooting, driving no matter what you are doing you become totally emersed.
Shooting a few people and driving like an idiot certainly hasn't made me want to go out in real life and do the same, it's just a great release.
Completing the first few missions was fun - Take your cousin to a poker game, meet a girl, take her on a date, rescue your cousin from a fight etc.
But then I just went for the freestyle game. Walk around, steal some cars, car-jack a few cars - different types of cars, speeds and such.
Take a walk onto the runway at the airport, cause SECURITY CHAOS, look you can do anything...
Once bored - pull out your mobile phone and enter some cheat codes for access to all the weapons, a helicopter, whatever you want!
This is a FOUR STAR game - no doubt about it. Just on graphics and gameplay.
People everywhere will be immersed into this game for hours and hours late nights everywhere.
Keep your kids away from it if you dont have faith in their self censorship and self control - thats a parental decision.
