| 14 May 2008 - SMARTPHONES - AUSTRALIA - 2008 |
 |
I've mentioned all the rumours, all the gossip, but now we have some clarity!
Thanks to an Italian phone company announcing a 3G iPhone in the coming months, we now know for SURE a 3G iPhone is on its way, and rest assured THAT is the one we will get here in Australia, on Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.
I think Apple have learned from the Exclusive carrier experiment in the US, and while successful in creating a buzz and demand for the iPhone, now that exists, it's time to unleash the beast on all networks - plus, there could be come competition trade issues in Australia with their US model.
All that aside, RIM announced this week the BLACKBERRY BOLD - as expected. 3G, WiFI, Gps, Camera, oh man, this is sounding like the ultimate Blackberry.
That will hit US carriers within a month or so, and while we might expect it could be until Christmas we see it, i think more likely they will bring it out as quick as possible - perhaps even in June. Telstra have already looked likely, and i'd expect all carriers to deploy it.
Interesting times for the Smartphone market in Australia.
