| 01 Sep 2008 - is 165CM too big for a TV? |
 |
Never!
How dare you even consider the thought.
You might remember some months back I spoke of the amazing 151cm SHARP Aquos LCD TV I had trailed. Wonderful viewing experience, and a HD picture which just filled my lounge.
Imagine then a 165cm version!.
Sharp have announced a 65 INCH LCD TV - to retail at around $13,999 has joined the AQUOS family.
A few fine features:
- 100Hz Fine Motion Advanced, which ensures smooth reproduction of fast moving pictures.
- RGB Plus backlight system delivers more natural pure red and pure green allowing reproduction of both the subtle and brilliant hues that make up nature’s colour spectrum.
- the latest LCD technology, which achieves a dynamic contrast ratio of 15,000:1 (native contrast ratio 3,000:1).
- A viewing angle of 176 degrees vertically or horizontally allows quality viewing from all parts of the room.
All of which if you are comparing model to model are impressive figures.
Designed for easy connectivity with other equipment, the LC-65RX1X features a bank of terminals including
- 3 X HDMI,
- 2 X component,
- 3 X AV-in,
- PC-in,
- S-Video,
- RS-232C,
- AV-out,
- optical/audio-out
- headphone-out.
If you're in the market at this level, you are certainly looking at more than just price. The key here is to consider those things that are most crucial to TV placement like the room lighting, viewing angle/position, and the TYPE of shows you will be watching. As the Picture gets bigger, I think the need to pay attention to the type of content grows more important. High speed sports viewing could well be difficult or messy on a large screen which cannot handle the picture, so be wary of that.
None the less, this would be an impressive unit - Not sure how strong your wall would need to be to sustain this unit hanging off it!
