| 01 Sep 2008 - Thin LCD - ASUS |
 |
A lot of talk earlier in the year at the Annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas was about SONY's launch of the OLED product, the super thin new TV.
These were something like 3mm thick, but for mine, the problem was they still had to be linked to a larger base which contained the all important connections and such.
However they will find a place, for their clear picture and also in applications where the base can be separated from the screen.
ASUS this week announced the 'World's Slimmest' 22inch LCD'.
The ASUS LS221H is 45mm in Depth, so if it was placed flat on the wall, that's under 5cm sticking out - pretty impressive stuff.
55cm is a decent size loungeroom TV still, with plenty of old CRT's still around at that size.
Some of the features/specifications:
- Panel Size: 22” widescreen
- Contrast ratio: 4000:1 (ASCR Technology)
- 2ms Rapid Response Time (G to G)
- 9H protection glass
- 16.7M full colour
- Light-in-Motion II (5 modes according to Splendid)
- Ultra slim body (45mm)
- Elegant leather with classic texture
- Resolution: 1680*1050 WSXGA+
- Viewing angle (CR≥10): 170˚(H)/160˚(V)
- Dual video inputs: HDMI 1.2 and D-Sub
- VESA wall mount (equipped with adapter)
All that, for $529 through major electrical retailers. Not bad really!
