| Apple will dominate the news today with their new offerings, but RIM have announced a new Blackberry, and on the very same day a new scoop video has emerged of their touch screen "Thunder" device. The FLIP phone from Blackberry is a complete change from tradition. Known as the PEARL 8220, the flip blackberry takes the Pearl range a step further. The Pearl in my mind has always been aimed at the more traditional mobile user taking the step up to a smartphone. This new 8220 continues that, and it looks great. It looks THICK, very thick, but the keyboard style is nothing new to the pearl, and the face on the closed cover will allow for clock, caller ID and much more. It is NOT 3G, so you won't get the blistering speeds of 'her' big brother BOLD. No word on release date, I'd expect Optus and Telstra to jump on this for an October/November launch. In other Blackberry news,some goose who calls himself 'brew ninja' has exposed the THUNDER - or TOUCHSCREEN Blackberry. This is the iPhone killer for them, but it looks so UNlike a blackberry to me, I have no real desire for it. Check it out for yourself, GREAT to see RIM have come up with a new way of approaching the touch screen concept, with a 'touch' and a 'press' style of usage.
