| 05 Apr 2009 - Twitter for Blackberry the best application I've found so far |
![]() |
| Forget Twitterberry, the most common Blackberry Twitter App, or Tiny Twitter. The best I've found thus far is YATCA (Yet another Twitter Client Application). This application integrates fully with the blackberry mailbox making it more seamless to use. ONE thing I can't seem to get it to do is upload Pics, so for now, this is certainly the best for basic Tweets, Re-Tweeting, Replying, and Viewing Friend tweets - BUT, most importantly, best for seeing (and thus not missing) important replies. Here's a look at how you can use it after downloading from http://bit.l/yatca101 ![]() When you get emails, your have your 1 New message notification (Yellow envelope), but install YATCA and you can also monitor new TWEETS from your friends on TWITTER (Blue Y): ![]() But that really complicates your inbox (below): ![]() So if you want some semblence of order to this chaos, I recommend only integrating (Merging) replies TO you into your inbox. Here's How: ![]() Scroll down to the Incoming Items Options: ![]() Set them all to Non-Merged - Except 'replies for you': ![]() Save this: ![]() Immediately your inbox will be clear back to normal, BUT you will still get the Y notification on screen for new tweets: ![]() So, I recommend setting up a quick shortcut to view your YATCA 'inbox' which is essentially your 'Friends Timeline' Press MENU - SEARCH: ![]() If you have any previous search here, click MENU - NEW: ![]() The only thing to specify is YATCA as the FOLDER - and the main folder not either of the sub folders: ![]() Then Click MENU - SAVE, and choose a Name (Yatca) and a Shortcut Key (Y): ![]() Exit and Save. Now, from your Mailbox enter the shortcut - ALT then Y. You will be taken to your YATCA Folder, which is, essentially, your Friends Timeline (as you would know it from Twitterberry perhaps): ![]() Easy then to simply delete them, or click to read. ONE failing of this version is when you are reading one tweet, you have to go back to the list to delete it. But RETWEETING and REPLYING to each tweet is simple as: ![]() The Re-Tweet window allows you to add comments etc: ![]() And once you've read them all, simply DELETE PRIOR just like you do with emails: ![]() ![]() And your YATCA mailbox is clear: ![]() Making your normal inbox free of Twitter and just for emails, or tweets directed to YOU: ![]() Just quickly, one other application I found:Twibble (twibble.de) |
