| 05 May 2009 - Windows 7 - It's almost here |

| For those of you who took the bold step of installing Windows 7 on your computer (likely if you did, it was on your 'spare' machine), tomorrow/today is a very big day. Some time on the 5th (US time), at THIS SITE Microsoft will make available for download the latest version of Windows 7 - the RELEASE CANDIDATE. As the name indicates, Microsoft think this version is a close version to the final as they can get. So, it will be available - to an UNLIMITED NUMBER of users as of today/tomorrow. Risky - YES - Worth it - VERY MUCH YES. I've been running windows 7 on my 'lab' machine now for some months, and I think it's fantastic, great interface, very usable, and stable. With this 'RC' as it's known, I'm going to wipe my EEEPC and install 7 on it, worth a try for sure. And it's free! Worth the risk for sure, but don't consider it if you don't know what you're doing, or if you are using the PC for primary business activities. This new version will work for A YEAR! A Free Operating System for a year! That gives you 12 months to save up for whatever the cost MIGHT be when it's released in stores.. But, be ware, after March 1 next year, your computer will shut down EVERY TWO HOURS - just as a reminder to pop out and hand over some cold hard cash.. But that's ages away! If you have a SECOND PC, i Highly recommend this. If you don't - think about your options. Might be worth a try - Might though be worth waiting a few more months (6 perhaps?) until the FINAL version from Microsoft is in stores. |
