09 Jan 2008 - ALERT - FAKE BANK EMAILS
I think I've mentioned this MORE times than anything else of late.  And I don't think it's ever a bad thing to remind you.

BANKS DO NOT SEND EMAILS TO YOU asking you to login etc.

If you get an email from your bank - NEVER CLICK A LINK in it. My Bank (St George) Send me email ALERT's - telling me my balance or of major deposits or withdrawls.  This is a great service. There are NO LINKS in it, just an information email

The latest HOAX is attempting to defraud ANZ customers.

It is titled "protect your banking" (which is the same statement the GENUINE ANZ site are using when you login to internet banking)

It says this:
Dear ANZ Customer,

As you may already know, we at ANZ online banking guarantee you online security and partner with you to prevent fraud. Due to the newly introduced Comprehensive Quarterly Updates Program (which is meant to help you against identity theft, monitor your credit and correct any possible errors), we urge you to go through the 2 step ANZ Account Confirmation process.

The operation involves logging in and confirming your identity over a secure connection at:
Tick     Login to your ANZ account by clicking Login Below.
Tick     Verify your Login Protection and account activity .

After completing the operation, you will be informed whether or not your account has been confirmed with Comprehensive Quarterly.

This is a complete hoax.

When you click the link in the email, you are taken to what LOOKS like the ANZ site - but its not.

Look closely at the address bar and you will see
"http://white-hat-warrior.com/cache/anz/anz/anz/anz/anz/ANZ/Bankmain.htm"

Trust me - that is NOT the ANZ site!

It's disgraceful behaviour, and more should be done to stop it.

If you login, THEY WILL HAVE YOUR BANK DETAILS and that is all they need.

PLEASE - IGNORE ANY EMAILS FROM BANKS asking you to update your details, or protect your security.

The email - looks real - but it is NOT
