| 16 Jan 2008 - MACWORLD - THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS |
 |
After the huge International Consumer Electronics show last week in Vegas, all eyes turn to MACWORLD for what is often the launch of some of those cool Apple ideas.
This year, there were rumours of a new ultra portable Laptop, as well as Movie Rentals and plenty of other 'rumours'
Turns out they were pretty spot on!
MacBook AIR - that's the name you'll be hearing for this SLIM LINE laptop.
It's got a full size keyboard, backlit (which is my BIG wrap on the Macbook Pro), but in reality, it's a THIN AS THIN can get laptop - and while that is very cool - it's not really all that exciting in my book.
Some other announcements, new features for the iPhone and iPod Touch - new applications and improvements - BUT NO SIGN OF 3G support for the iPhone so no timeline for Australia.
And iTunes MOVIE RENTALS.
Using a complex DRM system, you can download movies to rent, keep them for up to 30 days, but once you watch them, you can only watch them again for 24 hours. A good idea. BUT the concession Apple had to make with Movie Makers was that they will NOT be available until 30 days after the DVD is released.
There's plenty more, but I'll wait for the full detail from Apple Australia so we can talk prices and timelines, then I'll give you the full story.
