The War is over... or so it is reported..
According to plenty of well places sources and reports all across the internet, Toshiba is soon to announce its official withdrawl from the Next Generation DVD business, meaning BLU-RAY is the winner.
Blu Ray is a better choice, just because it is so much easier to differentiate from DVD because the name is so different - that's what makes it a great win in my mind - no more confusion!
But the reason for the whole thing in the end is the loss of key Movie Maker WARNER defected to Blu Ray, and American super retailer Walmart also said it would stock ONLY Blu Ray.
Pretty hard to fight an entertainment battle without any content or people to sell what little content you do have.
So, HD-DVD becomes the new BETA (although BETA still exists today in High End uses, but not on the 'family' front) and BLU RAY the new VHS...
Finally.. we can all move on!
