| 12 Mar 2008 - A Laptop JUST for you!??? |
 |
Ok, So HP today launched a new range of stylish notebooks.
At the launch, we were asked - HOW DO YOU EXPRESS YOURSELF?
So I ask you the same thing. Below are Three types of personality - pick the one that best matches YOU.
Personality 1 Baa, I'm no sheep! I like to stand out from the crowd. I think it's safe to say that I go against the norm in most aspects of my life and I like my possessions to reflect this. I can't stand having the same gadgets as my friends. Quiet? No, I'm definitely not quiet! And I'm not too keen on getting old. In fact, I'm only as old as I feel, right? If I was famous I'd be a gifted artist. Personality 2 I'm a touchy feely person. When it comes to style, I like simple fashion with a twist. I like to be organised and I'm a crazy note-taker. If I was famous I'd be a creative writer. Or maybe I already am... Personality 3 Do I like black or white best? Neither, I like colours - bright colours! I don't like to shrink into the background but I also don't like too much of a fuss being made. Throw me on a stage with a group of friends to sing karaoke and I'm fine, but force me to get up there by myself and I'll run a thousand miles. What's my pet peeve? There's plenty of things that fire me up! If I was famous I'd be a muso.
Right, have a good think. (if the Media are anything to go by, ALL but 2 of you are Personality 2, one person was personality 1, and I - thats right, just ME, was Personality 3 - Luckily, the applicable notebook is the very one I am about to test!)
If you are personality 1, read below for the new dv2800 Artist Edition.
If you are personality 2, read below for the tc2000 Series (Tablet PC)
If you, like me, are personality 3, read below for the dv6700 Entertainment Notebook.
HP Pavilion dv2800 Artist Edition Notebook PC The HP Pavilion dv2800 Artist Edition Notebook PC features the personal design of 20-year old Joao Oliveira of Portugal who was chosen as the winner of a global notebook design competition organised by HP and MTV. Incorporating bold colours and a variety of symbolic elements, this youthful notebook is ideal for design and culture lovers.
The competition, which kicked off during September 2007, drew more than 8,500 notebook designs submitted by young people from 112 countries around the world. Regional finalists were selected by popular vote on the contest website; final judging came from a panel that included Olympic gold-medalist snowboarder Shaun White, HP industrial designers, members of the MTV Networks creative team, and marketing experts from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.
This limited-edition, 14-inch entertainment powerhouse exudes individuality with its vibrant design and colour scheme. Boasting a clever mix of traditional designs with retro and modern elements, the HP Pavilion dv2800 has an aspect to suit every mood. Laser-etched and protected by an inlaid moulding process, the notebook design is cutting edge and durable.

Just a quick look, and I think i'm spot on, and the dv6700 IS for me, but we will soon see, I will keep you updated on my XP to VISTA in 90 days page!
As for the rest, very interesting stuff, I'm not one big on the LOOK of the laptop, except that I don't personally like the chunky lookers from Lenovo (thinkpad), but they work you see.
The 'kids' today perhaps will be really drawn to these funky designs, and the tablet on the tx2000 is reported to be much improved from the tx1000 - we'll have to wait and see on that.
Separate and powerful graphics on the non tablet's mentioned here should provide decent performance, and both have HDMI outputs.
Some pics below.
Enjoy
