Having done the PC to MAC Challenge, I guess it is only right to offer the competing system the same opportunity!

So as a long time Windows user, and a current XP owner (1 Laptop, 2 Desktops), Can I make the switch to Vista?

Using the same completely un-scientific principals of the PC to MAC challenge, I will take on a notebook running the Vista operating system, document my frustrations, thoughts and comments right here, and see how long it takes, if at all, to learn to live with and perhaps love this much maligned Vista system.

Thanks to the good people at HP, around the second week of March I will start the VISTA challenge, using one of their soon to be released EXPRESSIVE mobile Entertainment Notebooks.

And I will do a comprehensive trial of Adobe Premier Pro vs Final Cut Pro - see if Mac really does beat PC there.

Looking forward to it.
30 Apr 2008 - HP's THRIVE Pavillion dv6000
HP's THRIVE Branded Pavillion dv6000 has been a pleasure to use.

Up front, I will say i've had some issues with the built in mouse touchpad, but there is rarely a time when I dont plug in a mouse, so I haven't even bothered to contact HP!  I'm sure its a simple driver or hardware issue.

This dv6000 handles Vista with ease.  I haven't had a single performance issue with Vista, nor have I had any compatability or installation issues.

30 Apr 2008 - A month on... is Vista THAT bad?
I have to say I've been surprisingly impressed with Windows Vista.

Forget lab tests and benchmarking, I've been using Vista as an end user, an everyday user.

For the most part, It's been simple use, Internet, Email, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, plus some advanced use of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro.

25 Mar 2008 - Welcome to Vista
Thanks to my HP Pavilion dv6000 (Thrive Edition), I am now experiencing Windows Vista as a regular user.

I have to say, first impressions are good.

This laptop features Core 2 Duo CPU at 2.2GHz, with 2 Gig of Ram, and I think that is a great specification for Vista.

Installation went great, setup was faultless.
